Calculate Returns โGoods and Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax levied on the supply of goods and services in India. It replaced multiple cascading taxes levied by the central and state governments.
India has four primary GST rates: 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. There are also zero-rated items (0%), special rates for precious stones (0.25% and 3%), and composition scheme rates (1%, 5%, 6%).
CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST) apply to intra-state transactions and are equally divided. IGST (Integrated GST) applies to inter-state transactions and is collected by the central government.
To calculate GST from gross amount: Net Amount = Gross Amount รท (1 + GST Rate/100). For example, โน1,180 รท 1.18 = โน1,000 (Net), so GST = โน180.
The composition scheme is for small businesses with turnover up to โน1.5 crore. They pay GST at a fixed rate (1%, 5%, or 6%) of turnover and can't claim input tax credit.
Use CGST+SGST for transactions within the same state. Use IGST for transactions between different states or imports/exports.
