UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks and time. It is within about 1 second of mean solar time at 0° longitude.

There are 24 primary time zones in the world, each generally 15 degrees of longitude apart. However, some countries and regions use half-hour or quarter-hour deviations.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) is the practice of setting clocks forward by one hour during warmer months to extend evening daylight and conserve energy.

France has the most time zones with 12 (including its overseas territories), followed by Russia with 11 time zones.

The International Date Line is an imaginary line located at 180° longitude where the date changes by one day when crossed from east to west.
